ABOUT US

David Ault
The Owner:

The catalyst behind The Greens at Fox Run, Fox Run Builders and Fox Run Golf Club is the owner, David Ault, an avid golfer and conservationist. In the late 90s, he decided to build the most challenging, bent grass course in the region, and created one of the most challenging in the Midwest.

His vision resulted in the Fox Run Clubhouse and Conference Center, with details straight from the British Isles that run the gamut from 17 piece crown molding to a walk-in stone fireplace. Details like this give it the feel of a timeless genteel manor home, the kind with a parsonage nearby.

Ault's background in the U.S. Navy made him want to incorporate submarine technology that generates fuel independently on or off dry land. No one was doing this that he could find, so he commissioned a firm to custom build the equipment that would become the technology now deemed by the EPA as the most efficient alternative to fossil fuel energy for heating and cooling.

The same technology will distinguish The Greens at Fox Run as one of the greenest communities anywhere in the nation.

James Trout
Project Manager:

James Trout was called back by the owner to help him plan and build The Greens. James directed the designing and building of the Fox Run Conference Center and Clubhouse 10 years ago. He traveled to England to research authentic European construction details firsthand. He came back and put together a team of craftspeople he’d worked with over the years, and built Fox Run with artistry in the European tradition — a task he’s doing again for The Greens. With 25 years of experience designing, building and developing, Jim’s credentials are extensive. Trout and Company is his design/build firm.

He has served as past chairman or board member of Energy-Care and Adaptability, the St. Louis Home Builders Association (HBA), and the HBA Remodeler Council. He currently serves on both the Legislative Affairs and Professional Standards committees as well as sitting on the Board of Directors for the Missouri Association of REALTORS. He's also an active member of U.S. Green Building Council/St. Louis, the HBA’s Green Council, the Nature Conservancy, the Coalition for the Environment, and the Sierra Club. Jim has also worked extensively on civic issues with our state legislature and within communities to improve homeowner rights and community planning practices.

It’s a labor of love for Jim and everyone involved. The Greens at Fox Run is making history as one of the largest verified green residential communities of its kind in the nation.
